There is no huge, all-encompassing story. With Season 3, it feels like, okay, now what? It doesn't just feel that way for those watching, but the series itself comes across that way. It made their reunion less special as if the producers decided that they needed the pair already back together when Season 3 of The Mandalorian started, rather than exploring a compelling story of what their lives would be like without each other. We weren't seeing this drawn out in their show, but rather quickly moved through in a completely different series. It was beautiful storytelling, but it also felt disappointing. Instead, it was rushed through in its spinoff, The Book of Boba Fett, in which we leave Boba Fett to watch Din find Grogu with Skywalker, and ends with Grogu choosing to leave him to rejoin Din. That's exactly what we got, but not in The Mandalorian. Season 3 could have been an exciting story in which we watch The Mandalorian trying to get back to Grogu for whatever reason, while also showing Grogu in his new life with Skywalker. It kept the intense buzz building every week without a decline, rather than becoming something we consumed and talked about over a weekend, then forgot about. It helped as well that they only put out one episode at a time every week, rather than dumping them all at once for us to binge. Their adventures were exciting, especially with the throwback episodic Western-styled stories. His father and son-like connection with The Mandalorian was a sight to behold. He was a perfect character, one so cute that he could be used to sell anything, but he was also fascinating to watch, as we learned more about his capabilities. Then enter Grogu, or baby Yoda as he was affectionately called by fans. We now follow Din Djarin ( Pedro Pascal) in a world that looks familiar but is also completely different. The Mandalorian explored that world, one taking place after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, where the Empire is defeated and Vader as dead. Audiences had grown burnt out by familiarity and Skywalker overexposure. But producers like John Favreau and Dave Filoni took a risk by exploring the Star Wars world beyond the stories of Luke and Leia, Han Solo, and Darth Vader. If you weren't a hardcore fan, you might not even know what the heck a Mandalorian was. It didn't seem like The Mandalorian would be what would change that. The Star Wars franchise was in a bit of a downward trend, with many fans having been disappointed by the new feature film trilogy. Amanda rummaged around the nearby area, looking for the newborn, and found the wee lad inside a garbage can.For the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, everything went right. Amanda in turn found Lucy in a nearby room, dead after giving birth. Then, another of the 1980s flashbacks took us to when officers Amanda and Evelyn nearly caught their serial killer, but he slipped away. As was Angie, though her doctor offered Will and the others no confirmation, either way, that Angie would be paralyzed. James, it turned out, lived, and was in the hospital at episode’s end. An angry Will was railing at the lack of true justice as the rest of the APD (tipped off by Campano’s epiphany that the killer smelled of the hand soap at James’ go-to restaurant) descended on the house and cellar. Will was poised to punish James further, yet when he lifted him from the floor he realized that James had poisoned himself with the limoncello he was sipping earlier. Will then quickly checked on Angie, and we got a first hint that James’ blows to her back/spine may have left her paralyzed. Will in turn dealt quite a beatdown to James, until he was supine on the floor. James led Will to his cellar, where Angie was shackled and unconscious after a brutal beating. Because James felt Lucy was “different,” softer than his other victims. The two men got to talking, and it became clear that James blamed Will for Lucy’s death, during childbirth. Having wound up on the phone with James after Angie tried/failed to escape, Will showed up at Ulster’s doorstep. Said someone, Will deduced, was James Ulster, the attorney who defended onetime suspect Juice back in the day. The actual file remains in the same place. Rather, when you complete the drag and drop action, an alias is created to that file. It’s a temporary location for files in the immediate future.īut the nice part is that files are not actually stored there. Think of it as a Pending folder for your GTD-minded folks. I simply have a Dock at the bottom that I drag and drop files I will be working with onto it. The other usage I enjoy is creating a Dock with working files. It beats hitting CMD + T in Safari and then browsing to each one in my bookmarks. With this setup, I can create each URL shortcut, drag the mouse to select them all in the Dock and then click Return to open them all at once. For example, for one client I have, the work involves opening up ten to twelve web sites all at once. This is particularly handy because for some things. As you can see from the image below, I’ve got a right aligned Dock that has three separate panels, each containing items that are relevant to a particular type of work I do. And this is where DragThing allows you to organize your items by workflow or function. You can then create separate Docks to launch various applications or documents. Rather than having a Dock full of open applications plus the applications you’ve chosen to always keep in the Dock plus any documents or folders (Stacks) you’ve added, you only see the applications that are running currently.īecause of my dependance on Quicksilver to launch apps or switch windows, I really only want to see my running applications. It simply displays all running applications. You can see this in action in the screenshot at the beginning of the post. How is this done?įirst of all, there is an option to use a Process Dock. With DragThing, the user is able to separate the two functions into different Docks. This is the key issue why OS X’s Dock has never fit my workflow-it combines the two functions together in an unintuitive manner. My desired setup separates two functions of the Dock: an application/document launcher and a process monitor. But if you are even a little dissatisfied with the OS X Dock, I would encourage you to take the time to try out the various options DragThing gives you.Īfter several hours of playing with it, I was able to create the Dock experience I had been looking for these past three years. It takes investing some time to check out all the features and configure your desired docks. There is no shortage of options in this application.Īs you can see, this application has a lot of features, which can be a drawback for some. Highly flexible, it allows multiple docks, each customised to suit your exact needs. It puts all your documents, folders, and applications just a single click away. Developer James Thomson describes his application as so:ĭragThing is the original dock designed to tidy up your Macintosh desktop. Version 1.0 was released on May 1st 1995, just over 14 years ago. The Dock Replacement Toolįor those who have used Macs for a while, you may know that DragThing has been a round for a long time. That was until I gave DragThing a long try. But after a brief look at each, nothing seemed to work for me. Tools such as Hyperspaces and Dock Spaces for example. There are also a lot of other utilities out there that seem to be attempting to improve this area. But over time the need to have a few tools used in all Spaces made this feel too clumsy. The solution that came the closest was a carefully thought out implementation of Spaces. But over the past three years, experience has shown me that no matter how you try, the Dock in its current form is not the tool for the job.ĭuring this time, I’ve tried various other tools to meet this need. For example, all the apps I use when writing a blog post-it ‘feels’ like it would be more intuitive if they were all together in the Dock. My issue lies in that I for some reason feel the need for the items in my Dock to be organized by the type of work I’m doing. I’m not one of those people who feels that either of these applications needs a complete rebuild, but ever since I made the move to the Mac platform, I have had a sense of dissatisfaction with the Dock. If people are going to complain about OS X, there are two items that consistently get negative reviews: the Dock and the Finder. DragThing is a tool that gives you more Dock options. Slit lamp examination is typically characterized by a peripheral band of corneal thinning in the inferior cornea from 4 to 8 o'clock. They someimes present with acute corneal hydrops and pain or acute decrease in vision, but this is relatively rare with only a few case reports. Patients with PMD typically present asymptomatically except with progressive visual deterioration despite spectacle correction due to the irregular astigmatism. The diagnosis is made clinically as patient's are usually asymptomatic except for progressive visual deterioration. Pellucid gets its name from the meaning "transparent" as the cornea typically appears transparent in this degeneration. Given the corneal thinning and the potential association of eye rubbing with keratoconus and its relationship to PMD, it could be considered to advise patients not to rub their eyes. No preventative strategies exist for PMD. The thin, weakened cornea is hypothesized to protrude as a result of intraocular pressure. The exact pathophysiology of PMD has not been ascertained, but it is thought to be secondary to collagen abnormalities, similar to keratoconus. FLS collagen has also been observed in advanced KC. In cases of acute hydrops, breaks in Descemet's membrane with swelling of the stroma and inflammatory infiltrate is seen. Electron microscopy of the thin regions reveals unusual electron-dense areas of fibrous long-spacing (FLS) collagen with a periodicity of 100 to 110 nm, whereas normal collagen has a periodicity of 60 to 64 nm. Lipid deposits are typically absent and stromal ground substance rich in mucopolysaccharides is present. Classically, PMD is histologically thought to show an area of stromal thinning, normal epithelium, endothelium, and Descemet's membrane, and absent or broken (focal disruption) Bowman's membrane. Histopathologic abnormalities in PMD resemble keratoconus. A recent case showed that PMD was coexistent with corneal plana in an individual with a KERA mutation, thus, potentially implicating KERA in the development of PMD. PMD has no sex or racial predilection, and does not appear to be hereditary, but moderate to high astigmatism has been noted in families with affected patients. PMD typically presents in the second to fifth decade of life. It has not been elucidated whether keratoconus, keratoglobus, and PMD are different diseases or phenotypic variations of the same disease. In series performed in Japan, 17 of 27 cases of unilateral PMD revealed keratoconus or suspected keratoconus in the fellow eye. Ten percent of PMD cases are associated with keratoconus and 13% are associated with keratoglobus. Keratoconus, keratoglobus, and PMD are postulated to be related because these conditions coexist in families. Some people postulate, however, that this prevalence might be underestimated as the condition is often misdiagnosed as keratoconus. PMD, while rare, is the second most common noninflammatory corneal thinning disorder after keratoconus. Also, patients who undergo refractive surgery with PMD can have deleterious results, so it is important to consider prior to refractive surgery. It is important to recognize as it can cause severe deterioration in visual function. PMD is disease of peripheral corneal thinning that is slowly progressive over many years. There is no associated inflammation and the central cornea is of normal thickness. PMD is uncommon and is characterized by a crescent-shaped band of inferior corneal thinning approaching 20% of normal thickness that is 1 to 2 mm in height, 6 to 8 mm in horizontal extent, and 1 to 2 mm from the limbus. I could not be more excited for The BioShock Collection! It was rumored for a while that we would be returning to Rapture and Columbia on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and the rumors were finally confirmed last month. This game is going to be massive, and I am anxiously awaiting its release so I can embark on a caffeine-fueled journey to explore this vast universe (18 quintillion planets. In late May, the game was pushed back to August from its original release date of June, and it went gold just last week. Over the past few months, I’ve been thinking about the game a lot and how excited I am to explore the vast universe that Hello Games has worked tirelessly to create. I named it my “Game of the Show” that year, and then it fell off my radar for a while. Gamers have been looking forward to No Man’s Sky since its announcement at E3 two years ago. These are the four games that are coming out later this year that I'm most looking forward to. With all the great games coming out in the latter half of this year, I’d better start saving my money (or, I could just start a Christmas list). I don’t have time to play everything I’d like to, but I’ve really enjoyed some games that have been released this year, notably Uncharted 4, Firewatch, and Unravel. With the year more than halfway over, I’ve been thinking about the games I’m most looking forward to playing later this year. We’ve seen some great games so far this year, and it’s not over yet. At least they thought so until, in another, later, conversation, Assistant Lead Quest Designer Johnny Cash and Art Director Eli Cannon suddenly reported that the Jailer was one of several antagonists of the expansion, and that he could be the final villain. Therefore, from the very beginning we knew who we would fight in the final. Game director Ion Hazzikostas then hinted about it in his summer interview. When Shadowlands was announced at BlizzCon 2019, the Jailer was unambiguously shown as the expansion’s villain, and many players were confident that he would end up being the villain of the expansion. Then, however, the developers changed the strategy: at the beginning of Mists of Pandaria, it was completely unclear who the main evil here, the same happened in Warlords of Draenor, where Archimonde suddenly appears at the very end, in Legion – Argus, and in Battle for Azeroth – N’Zoth. Most of it revolved around these big bad guys, and it took a long time to get it done and get ready to win. From The Burning Crusade to Cataclsym, from the very beginning, players knew who exactly would become the main villain of the expansion and which of them they would have to fight in the decisive battle. Similar to the original game, all characters are capable of maxing out all skills available to them, effectively building a limited sort of hybrid character. Each one will branch into one of two or three paths, depending on which skills are emphasized. Some skill customization is possible, but primarily regarding weapons and armor, with a few exceptions. An Adventurer Is You: Vindictus has multiple classes, of which, eleven are currently available and ready to be played. All Your Powers Combined: Craftsman Colru takes on the abilities of the four smaller golems that make him. This actually goes a long way toward explaining his character in the original game. There is an entire side quest revolving around his heavy drinking. The game is free to play (barring cosmetics and equipment-enhancing items), so if you want to try it out you can find it here: Link All fighting takes place in instanced dungeons that allow only small player parties of 1-4 to enter though there are also raid instances such as the White Tyrant mission in Hoarfrost Hollow that allow for parties of up to 6-10 people, and the various dragon missions that allow for up to 24 in a party. Unlike the first game, and most MMORPGs for that matter, there are few common areas outside of towns, and no common combat areas. Despite this, combat is still the dominant focus of the game, and the crafting system is rudimentary by comparison to the original game. These are predominantly crafting skills such as blacksmithing and tailoring, and are only available in the city of Rocheste, where they are obtained and trained similarly to combat skills. While previously absent, as of the "Rocheste Royal Cadet" expansion some of Mabinogi's "life skills" have been added to the game. There is almost none of the Wide-Open Sandbox quality that dominated the original game, and most of the side missions are in some way related to the main storyline, typically providing more detail, character development, or a different perspective. Also differing from Mabinogi, Vindictus is far more story-driven, and at least half of the missions advance the main story. The gameplay is like a mix of Dynasty Warriors and Monster Hunter, with just a pinch of Demon's Souls. Although it maintains some of the original's skill-based system and titles, gameplay is far more combat-oriented - it is being promoted as an "Action RPG" - and the game mechanics are simplified. While set in the same world, this is a darker and bloodier version, using Valve's Source engine. The land that the Vindictus storyline takes place in what becomes the dark, hostile "Another World" of the original game. The storyline takes place during the period of Mabinogi's history referred to in-game as the " Fomor Wars", which forms the backdrop for most of the original game's storyline quests. Vindictus, known as Mabinogi: Heroes in the original Korean version, is the Prequel to Mabinogi produced by DevCat Studios and distributed by Nexon USA. Would you still make the same choices? Is that what we call "destiny"? If you could relive your life, knowing that you would one day lose everything. Ethereum's state is a large data structure which holds not only all accounts and balances, but a machine state, which can change from block to block according to a pre-defined set of rules, and which can execute arbitrary machine code. Instead of a distributed ledger, Ethereum is a distributed state machine (opens in a new tab) ↗. For this more complex feature, a more sophisticated analogy is required. While Ethereum has its own native cryptocurrency (Ether) that follows almost exactly the same intuitive rules, it also enables a much more powerful function: smart contracts. These rules underpin all transactions on Bitcoin and many other blockchains. For example, a Bitcoin address cannot spend more Bitcoin than it has previously received. The ledger maintains a record of activity which must adhere to a set of rules that govern what someone can and cannot do to modify the ledger. The analogy of a 'distributed ledger' is often used to describe blockchains like Bitcoin, which enable a decentralized currency using fundamental tools of cryptography. It would also be helpful to be comfortable with cryptography/blockchain concepts like hash functions (opens in a new tab) ↗ and the Merkle tree (opens in a new tab) ↗. Some basic familiarity with common terminology in computer science such as bytes (opens in a new tab) ↗, memory (opens in a new tab) ↗, and a stack (opens in a new tab) ↗ are necessary to understand the EVM. At any given block in the chain, Ethereum has one and only one 'canonical' state, and the EVM is what defines the rules for computing a new valid state from block to block. It's the environment in which all Ethereum accounts and smart contracts live. The Ethereum protocol itself exists solely for the purpose of keeping the continuous, uninterrupted, and immutable operation of this special state machine. The EVM’s physical instantiation can’t be described in the same way that one might point to a cloud or an ocean wave, but it does exist as one single entity maintained by thousands of connected computers running an Ethereum client.
