![]() iPhone XS Max: Super Retina HD (2688 x 1242, 458ppi).iPhone XS: Super Retina HD (2436 x 1125, 458ppi).iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS: non-Retina.If Steve Jobs’ assertion was right and 300ppi on a smartphone is enough to make pixels invisible, then squeezing in more pixels would seem to be redundant. Whether there’s any point in having 4K and QHD resolutions on a smartphone is debatable. And Samsung’s Galaxy S6 has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels – known as Quad HD or QHD – on a 5.1in screen, giving it a pixel density of 577ppi. But several makers of smartphones and tablets, in particular, have displays with pixel densities which are at least a match for Apple’s devices, and in some cases far exceed it.Įxamples include Sony’s Xperia Z5 Premium which has a resolution of 3,860 x 2,160 pixels – just shy of 4K – on a 5.5in screen, giving it a pixel density of a monstrous 806ppi. No other manufacturer uses the Retina branding – Apple’s lawyers would soon have something to say if they did. In October 2015, it launched a 21in iMac with a horizontal resolution of 4096 pixels (and a pixel density of 218ppi), and called its display Retina 4K. I got a paper receipt and waited - and only two week days later I got an email and picked up my computer that day without ANY extra charge or hassle or even an appointment (which has always been problematic for me at Apple Stores). So when Apple launched a 27in iMac with 5,120 horizontal pixels in 2014, it used the same naming convention and called it Retina 5K. I went to iStore late afternoon on the Friday before Labor Day weekend with an appointment, and they found my warrantee in less than 30 seconds (meaning I did not have to pay for repairs besides water damage) and pledged they would get it fixed ASAP despite the long weekend being challenging to order parts from factories. I had no Apple Care and was terrified I would have to purchase a new computer, especially after Best Buy told me they are not authorized to fix Macs. This year I bought a 2017 open box laptop from Best Buy that started to malfunction for no reason. I have lived here for 3 years and gone to Apple Store SoHo location for repairs and struggled to get Genius Bar appointments and good customer service. IStore is best Apple repair in Lower Manhattan! Never again, just go straight to Apple for any type of repair. ![]() ![]() I relayed the price difference to the technician and claimed that he can’t do anything about the pricing as this is set by the owner. Going to this shop is like going to an auto shop where they are on a trip to inflate the price. Their diagnostic test revealed that the battery is old, and I have to pay $97 for that? Suspicious of the pricing, I called Apple and a customer support staff named Anamaya, claimed for my macbook the price to replace it cost $129 with no service Charge. They called me back 3-4days later and claimed the battery needs changing and front panel for $249 and service fee of $157.50 for a total $406.50. He also claimed, the price will be the same if I brought it to apple store for repair. Paid the $97 diagnostic fee ( that will be subtracted if I agree to continue with whatever fault and repair they will find and charge for it), the lone person (who has the personality of a dead person) also offered additional $50 to expedite the process as he claimed there are lots of repairs they’re doing (I declined). ![]() As the battery indicated “needs servicing”.
