Whether there’s any point in having 4K and QHD resolutions on a smartphone is debatable. And Samsung’s Galaxy S6 has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels – known as Quad HD or QHD – on a 5.1in screen, giving it a pixel density of 577ppi. But several makers of smartphones and tablets, in particular, have displays with pixel densities which are at least a match for Apple’s devices, and in some cases far exceed it.Įxamples include Sony’s Xperia Z5 Premium which has a resolution of 3,860 x 2,160 pixels – just shy of 4K – on a 5.5in screen, giving it a pixel density of a monstrous 806ppi. No other manufacturer uses the Retina branding – Apple’s lawyers would soon have something to say if they did. In October 2015, it launched a 21in iMac with a horizontal resolution of 4096 pixels (and a pixel density of 218ppi), and called its display Retina 4K. I got a paper receipt and waited - and only two week days later I got an email and picked up my computer that day without ANY extra charge or hassle or even an appointment (which has always been problematic for me at Apple Stores). So when Apple launched a 27in iMac with 5,120 horizontal pixels in 2014, it used the same naming convention and called it Retina 5K. I went to iStore late afternoon on the Friday before Labor Day weekend with an appointment, and they found my warrantee in less than 30 seconds (meaning I did not have to pay for repairs besides water damage) and pledged they would get it fixed ASAP despite the long weekend being challenging to order parts from factories. I had no Apple Care and was terrified I would have to purchase a new computer, especially after Best Buy told me they are not authorized to fix Macs. This year I bought a 2017 open box laptop from Best Buy that started to malfunction for no reason. I have lived here for 3 years and gone to Apple Store SoHo location for repairs and struggled to get Genius Bar appointments and good customer service. IStore is best Apple repair in Lower Manhattan! Going to this shop is like going to an auto shop where they are on a trip to inflate the price. Their diagnostic test revealed that the battery is old, and I have to pay $97 for that? Suspicious of the pricing, I called Apple and a customer support staff named Anamaya, claimed for my macbook the price to replace it cost $129 with no service Charge. They called me back 3-4days later and claimed the battery needs changing and front panel for $249 and service fee of $157.50 for a total $406.50. He also claimed, the price will be the same if I brought it to apple store for repair. Paid the $97 diagnostic fee ( that will be subtracted if I agree to continue with whatever fault and repair they will find and charge for it), the lone person (who has the personality of a dead person) also offered additional $50 to expedite the process as he claimed there are lots of repairs they’re doing (I declined). ![]() As the battery indicated “needs servicing”.

It now sits awkwardly at the base of the phone, rather than the back as it did on the Galaxy S5. One move that doesn’t work so well is the speaker placement. Thin metal volume and power keys live on opposite sides, which helps avoid accidentally pressing power key as we experienced with the HTC One M9. In fact, despite its large 5.1-inch screen, it doesn’t feel that much chunkier or clumsier than the dinky, 4-inch iPhone 5S. The phone is light but still feels solid, and it’s slimmer than the Galaxy S5. The brighter colours also tend to be fingerprint magnets so keep a spare cloth handy if you opt for one of those. This traditional absinthe is distilled from a wine alcohol base and has a natural green colour which is achieved through maceration with nettles. When restrictions on absinthe production were lifted, Absinthe Pernod was relaunched in 2014 in line with the recipe from 1900. Their original recipe absinthe fell out of use between 19. As a household name, Pernod is available across the globe, making it one of the most accessible absinthes on this list. Sharp and complex, it has a bitter undertone that is reminiscent of the spirits medicinal origins. An aromatic, creamy, and stimulating absinthe. This is high praise, of course, but it is accurate. The Terminus Oxygenee blend has been hailed as the “most powerful expression of the spirit in the Jade portfolio”. Today Combier & Jade own 2 fields of wormwood cultivars and continues to make absinthe traditionally by harvesting, drying, and mixing their ingredients by hand. With an alembic still in the back of the shop he made liqueurs to fill his candies and chocolates – they were so popular that he bought more alembics and opened a distillery in 1848. It would be almost 90 years before the regulation of how much thujone is present in absinthe would allow the ban to be finally lifted.Ĭombier & Jade Liqueurs began life as a candy shop in Saumur, it was opened in 1834 by Jean-Baptiste Combier and his brother Claude. Thought to be causing the downfall of society, absinthe was banned from 1912. When introduced to France as an alcoholic drink in the 1840s, it quickly developed a decadent and violent reputation. Thujone is responsible for the hallucinogenic reputation of absinthe and is proved to be toxic in large doses. Initially, it contained unadulterated wormwood, and as a result, the compound thujone. Although dating back to the Egyptian empire where it was used for medicinal purposes (that old excuse!), modern absinthe as we know it was first brewed in Sweden in the 18th century. Further instructions are on the Elevation Lookup Utility page. You can use data stored in a comma-separated values (CSV) text file (. To use this tool, your data must be in simple tabular format (easily accomplished using GPSV's plain-text converter) you must remove any existing elevation data and you must have your own Google Maps API Key. To get around this, GPS Visualizer hosts a JavaScript-based Elevation Lookup Utility that has your browser perform the queries. The drawback is that there is a limit on the number of queries that can be performed in a day by each user, so GPS Visualizer cannot ask Google for all of your points. Google's data comes from a variety of sources and is sometimes more accurate than the SRTM databases. The Google Maps API is able to return elevations for points anywhere in the world these are often (but not always) the same elevations you'd see in Google Earth. The quality ranking is as follows: NED1, NED2, ODP1, SRTM1, ASTER, SRTM3. GPS Visualizer will automatically select the best DEM data available in a given location. SRTM3 data normally only goes up to about 60° latitude, but thanks to the efforts of the volunteers at Viewfinder Panoramas, GPS Visualizer has the polar regions covered as well. NASA's SRTM3 v3 dataset includes 90-meter resolution for the entire world. (As with SRTM1 data, additional files can be added upon request.) ASTER has good 30-meter coverage of the entire world, but the massive size of the database makes it impractical to store all of it on. The ASTER GDEM ( tech specs & download links) is a joint product of NASA and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI). In most locations, they are more accurate than SRTM1 files. Most of the files are a combination of SRTM1 and local LIDAR and/or survey data, and they have a horizontal resolution of 1 arc-second (about 30 meters north-south and 20 meters east-west). USGS also produces 1/3-arc-second data (NED13), but because those files are nine times larger than NED1 files, only a few mountainous areas (Cascade Range, Sierra Nevada, southern Utah) are available on GPS Visualizer. For Alaska, 60-meter data is also available (NED2). 1 arc-second (~30-meter) horizontal resolution is available in most areas (NED1). When it does, the cleaner will consume all of the ammo, using one spring per crafted amount each and granting a scaled amount of bonus experience. While the bonus experience amounts awarded are integers, the fractional parts of the value are considered when multiple of the same item are dropped simultaneously by the same monster: for example, iron bars normally award 18 bonus experience each, however the 5 dropped by an iron dragon award 93 bonus experience, rather than 90 (because iron bars award 18.75 bonus experience each, which is rounded down at the end of the calculation).Īmmo drops, if enabled, will only activate if more than the crafted-at-once amount is dropped at once (i.e. a bronze longsword will always give 37.5 Smithing bonus experience).
